Breast Pumps for SCBU

For the past few years, East Coast Bays Rotary Club have donated breast pumps for the families in North Shore Hospital Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). This year was no exception

Tina, Charge Nurse Manager NSH SCBU and Leaine, Discharge Co-ordinator NSH SCBU gratefully received the pumps at our meeting this week.

“For families that end up with a baby in the Special Care Baby Unit, it is quite often a shock and can be a stressful time. It can be very hard for new mums to leave their precious baby in the hospital.  Being able to provide families with a breast pump relieves stress, it’s one less thing they need to think about or organise.

With a breast pump provided, a Mum can begin expressing breast milk and ensure their babies are getting the very best nutrition to support their growth and development. The SCBU clinical team and our families are always so grateful that we are able to provide these breast pumps free of charge thanks to the generous support of East Coast Bays Rotary Club.”
