We were joined by 2 exceptional Rangitoto College students at one of our recent meetings. Sean and Suya attended the 33rd Rotary National Science and Technology Forum held in Auckland from 7 – 21 January 2023.
Sean and Suya both reported that this had been a life-changing event for them, that had pushed them outside of their comfort zone and opened up a world of opportunities for a future in the field of science and technology. One of Sean’s highlights was an ecological lecture and his team competing in a ‘Dragons Den’ type challenge which they won. Suya found a virtual reality program which replaced hands-in operations very interesting.
The Rotary Science and Technology Forum is managed as a project by the Rotary Clubs of New Zealand and operates as a Trust. The Trust works closely with the University of Auckland – Waipapa Taumata Rau, AUT – Auckland University of Technology(AUT) and Massey University to provide the academic leadership, lectures and accommodation for this fully immersive 2-week programme.
